I had known Gloria for over 50 years beginning when my family joined Lamar Baptist. After my farther died in 1980, Gloria became an even closer friend to my mother and I crossed paths with her several times a week. She and my mother were always busy doing something at the church they both loved, Lamar Baptist. As my mother's eyesight failed, Gloria would come by and pick-up my mother (Geneva Butcher) and would sometimes take her to doctor appointments in Dallas and other times to just to have fun on lunch outings. Gloria was a very LOYAL FRIEND with my mother over many years and I very much appreciated everything she did for and with my mother. When Christmas time came around she always remembered me as well as many of her friends with a gift of her wonderful and delicious toffee. It was well worth a years wait. Maybe her family got it more than once a year, but is was a tradition that I always looked forward to. Her sweet and thoughtful smile and spirit will be missed. Rest in peace my christian sister and I know that you, my mother, James and Aubrey are having a wonderful reunion once again!! Wednesday, October 9, 2019 |

To the Thacker family: Your Mom was caring and pleasant. I met the family through Lamar Baptist Church. You are a wonderful group! I will miss your Mother.
