My heart is breaking.
When Uncle William found out my Daddy (his big brother JC) was sick, he visited him multiple times. Daddy would talk about it for days, it made him feel so important that his brother would drive so far, just to see him. After Daddy was bedridden in Hospice, Uncle William would take me out to eat before he drove home. He told me stories about my Daddy...how he looked up to him. He said that my Daddy was the best man he had ever known. He told me that because my Daddy sacrificed his education, dropping out of school to support the family, He was able to graduate. He told me that his life had been so good, and he owed much of that to his big brother JC.

I always knew my Daddy was wonderful, but I learned so much more about him from Uncle William...things my Daddy was too humble to tell and, quite honestly, probably never saw as anything special. It’s just what a man did to help his family.

I would have liked to be there for him at the end, like he was there for my Daddy.

I have no idea what to say. Sorry he's gone, but I'm sure he's not sorry about it where he is now. Our loss, not his.
