Wish I could have made it to the memorial service for Richard. After many years, FB provided us an opportunity to reconnect. He was a blessing to many throughout his entire life. Tennis brought us all together many years ago in prior to high school.

Prayers for all of Richard's family. He is now living in peace with all those that preceded him. God Bless each of you.

Dear Darner Family,
Our Son, Nathan Durflinger, worked with Richard on several jobs as a land an over the past ten years or so. On August 31, Nathan got critically ill from sepsis and we almost lost him. From the time that Richard saw on Facebook on Sept. 1 until Sept. 16 @ 3:21 pm, Richard was checking on Nathan several times a day, praying for Nathan and keeping their close knit group of landmen informed of Nathan’s condition. People like Richard was are rare. We are confident that Richard is still checking on Nathan. We are so sorry for your loss and we are praying for your Family’s comfort.. 2 Timothy 4:7-8. With Deepest Symphathy. James & Vickie Durflinger

I’m deeply saddened that my friend and mentor is gone. I owed Richard a lot in my career as a landman. He taught me many things freely and never expected anything in return. We work for Clayton Williams Energy together both in West Texas and out of the College Station office. When he moved on, he told me to let him know if I ever did and true to his friendship, he helped me get a contract where we worked together another 3 years with McDonald Land Services. Being close in proximity to Richard he came to rely upon me to help him get back and forth to some of his MD Anderson appointments over the last 6 months or so and I was always glad to get to see him again and visit a little bit. My friend will be missed and the hole in my heart will will never be healed.
