Al Flack, long time community leader and veteran member of the Wichita Falls banking community, died Monday, January 11, 2021. He spent his life serving the city of Wichita Falls in numerous capacities including the Wichita Falls ISD Board of Trustees, President of the United Way and a host of other local non-profit and charitable organizations that are too numerous to name.  Along the way, he mentored many in his banking profession and counseled others in life.

Born January 4, 1929 in Wichita Falls, he graduated from WFHS in 1946 and subsequently attended Hardin Junior College. He became a pilot at age 14, long before he had a driver's license or a car to drive, and his passion for aviation remained throughout his life. He married his sweetheart and classmate Mary Gladys Bryant in 1948. Al began his 70 year banking career about the same time, riding the bus into work to sweep the floors at the Wichita National Bank. He worked his way up, through most every department, eventually becoming an officer of the bank. The bank merged into First Wichita National Bank in the early 1960's and he continued with "Big Blue" until the opportunity arose in 1986 to become a founding member of First National Bank-Wichita Falls and serve as it's first President and CEO. His banking career came to a close with his resignation from the Board of Directors in 2018.

The bank, the banking community of Wichita Falls and the people he served with meant so much to him.

He was blessed to have so many close and dear friends but his faith and his family meant even more. Al and Mary Gladys were lifelong members of First Baptist Church-Wichita Falls. For years, Al faithfully greeted churchgoers at the church door on Sunday mornings. Despite his many obligations, he always made sure his family knew how much he loved them, both in words and deeds.

He was preceded in death by his parents Al Flack, Sr. and Lora Flack and in 2007 by his wife Mary Gladys. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Colgan, her husband Dale and grandson Jeff Colgan; his son David, wife Allyson, grandson Allen Flack, wife Whitney and their four children Charles, Lillian, Marilyn and Gwyneth; granddaughter Jennifer Snead husband Chris and their two children Hailey and Taylor; and granddaughter Natalie Mitchell and her husband Paul.

There are so many to thank; including those who cared for him in his final years. To attempt to name them would create a long list that would inadvertently overlook some, but a few to mention include the staff at Rolling Meadows and specifically those at The Gables.  And to Doris King for her friendship and companionship in the past few years after each had lost their spouses.

Although the family very much wishes to see friends, in an effort to be safe, regrettably, a traditional visitation will not be held. Notes, cards or other messages may be left at Lunn's funeral home or mailed to the home of David Flack. The Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 30, 2021 in the East (old) Sanctuary of First Baptist Church to allow for plenty of safe distancing between those that are comfortable attending. The burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
