Alice Williams West, 89, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on June 6 in Amarillo, Texas.

Born in Oklahoma City on August 6, 1936, Alice led an extraordinary life. She attended Principia Girls' Preparatory School and later pursued business studies at the University of Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life, Gordon T. West Jr. The couple married in December 1957 and made their home in Wichita Falls, where they spent the rest of their lives together.

Upon moving to Wichita Falls, Alice devoted her time and talents to a wide range of artistic and civic endeavors. She served on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Wichita Falls Symphony, Wichita Falls Ballet, the Kemp Center for the Arts, and the Wichita Falls Museum of Arts and Sciences. She was also active on state and national boards of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., eventually serving as president of its board. Her dedication to the arts enriched the cultural life of Wichita Falls and beyond.

Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She and Gordon shared a passion for travel, with Paris holding a special place in her heart. Through years of dedicated study, she became fluent in French and was always quick to lovingly correct any mispronounced French word spoken by family members.

Alice especially cherished time with her family, particularly her granddaughters, who affectionately called her "Precious." They treasured her homemade lemon ice cream, enjoyed by the pool during countless visits to Wichita Falls. Alice had a remarkable gift for making every occasion feel special and every person feel loved.

Her wit, charm, radiant smile, and sharp sense of humor could brighten any room. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, grace, generosity, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Alice is survived by her two sons, Gordon West Ill of Wills Point, Texas, and Stuart West and his wife, Chancy, of Amarillo, Texas; her three granddaughters, Madison West of Denver, Colorado, Peyton West of Dallas, Texas, and Sadie West of Dallas, Texas; and her brother, Walt Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jennie Lee (Baldwin) Williams; husband, Gordon T. West Jr.; her sister, Janet McClain; her brothers-in-law, Lane West, Reese West, and Robert McClain; her sisters-in-law, Jo Ellen West and Carolyn West; and her nephews, Adam West and Kirk West.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of First Christian Church in Wichita Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Christian Church of Wichita Falls or to a charitable organization supporting the arts, reflecting Alice's lifelong commitment to creativity, learning, and community service.
