Andrew Brian Saied, 64 passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in Grand Junction, Colorado, to be with his Lord and Savior. A private memorial will be held in Crested Butte, Colorado.

Andy was born January 27, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Dr. Victor C. (V.C.) Saied and Norma Jeanne Larsen Saied. From early childhood it became obvious that he was someone that approached life one way—with full force.  Andy loved to talk and never met a stranger.  He had many close, loyal friends.  From Ben Franklin Elementary, to Zundy Jr. High, and WFHS where he was Class President.

He also liked listening to music and the louder the better.  Many guessed that loud music (or gas compressors) might have had something to do with his hearing loss later in life. Those that knew him best will tell you it was probably the constant wearing of knit ski hats to bed each night in an attempt to straighten his naturally curly hair. Once, after a class swim party in his backyard, his hair dried natural and he immediately was elevated to a status previously thought unattainable by any Wichita Falls high schooler. All stories about Andy are a description of his zest for living life to the fullest and enjoying life with others.

He went on to graduate from the University of Texas with a degree in Mechanical engineering. He immediately went to work for Sun Oil Company in Valencia, California. Andy, being Andy, it did not take him long before he started his own oil company, Pi Energy with his brother Victor C. Saied Jr. in 1983.

Working the oilfield was definitely his life's passion, traveling from lease to lease, well to well. Some will tell you he seemed disappointed if everything was running smoothly. He loved tinkering. He loved working on projects. He loved solving problems.

Andy lived for outdoor adventures. He enjoyed heli-skiing all over Canada, snow skiing in Crested Butte, long bike rides and even longer backpacking trips. But Andy was not without his faults. He possessed an incredibly annoying habit of going years without playing tennis, golf, pool, darts, or ping pong, only to say, "sure let's play" and then beating you like a drum. All the while apologizing and offering to buy you a drink as a consolation prize.

We could write so much more, but that would turn this already long obit into a novella. Until then, just close your eyes, use your imagination, multiply it by 10, and think of the funniest thing you can think of. Then and only then will you get anywhere close to knowing what it was like to know and love Andy.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Camal Saied and Norma Jeanne Larsen Saied. He is survived by his wife Amy, brother Victor Saied Jr., brother Richard Saied, sister Jeanne Saied Fleming and husband Jon, daughter and son-in-law Samantha and Grant Phillips, grandchildren Lauren, Chloe and Grey and numerous nieces and nephews and friends that were family to him.  Andy was also preceded in death by his favorite dog "Hans", and survived by his favorite cat "Little Boy".
