Anna Marie Pennartz (May 24, 1959 to October 6, 2024)

Anna Marie was born in Archer County to Mildred and Henry Pennartz on May 24, 1959. She was one of 13 children. Her large and quirky Windthorst family is where she got her wacky sense of humor, her strong faith in God, and her "Windthorst child-bearing hips." She was called Anna Marie (or "Amraaaaay") by family and friends until, in a brazen act of teenage rebellion, she asked people to drop the "Marie." At a certain point in her adulthood, she adopted the title "The High Commander."

Anna was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace for decades, taking part in Christ Renews His Parish and singing in the choir at the 9:30, and later the 8:30, Sunday morning mass. She successfully completed the Sheriff's Office Citizen's Academy and delighted in demonstrating her self-defense moves on all who would allow it. She loved morning walks at the Hirschi High School track and showing her kids the treasures she found in the parking lot on the way - typically nickels that she knew would lead to her eventual status as a millionaire. She was passionate about good teeth and strong women.

Anna never met a costume she couldn't sew, a dessert she couldn't make (and eat), or an inanimate object she couldn't name (we're looking at you, Mr. Slidey Mr. Slidey.) She loved rainy days and her Lady Banks rose bushes at "The Good House." She lived for the "dun DUN" at the beginning of every Law and Order episode. Her laugh in times of triumph was Woody Woodpecker's iconic cackle. The sound traveled miles. She loved her three girls and she absolutely adored her grandbabies. Her positive outlook, powerful sense of humor, and her faith in God carried her through the most challenging of times.

Waiting to welcome her into her heavenly home are her siblings Bruce, Clyde, Troy, and Pearl, and her Mom and Dad. She was looking forward to seeing them again. They're probably already on game six of the Four-Hour-Card-Game with Troy telling Pearl to consider "unabashedly bawling her eyes out" whenever he wins. Her mom is telling them to stop arguing before she bashes their heads in (only to later swear she NEVER said that), and her dad is just happy to have his favorite daughter back with him at last.

Remaining here on this mortal plane are Anna's three daughters, Amanda, Courtney, and Felicity, as well as her five grandbabies, Riley, Paige, Henry, Rowan, and Reagan. She also leaves behind her husband, Robert, though you all may know him best as Sweetie. In her phone, he was "Sweetie, Light of my Freakin' Life." She also leaves behind a Windthorst family too large to list and her BFF Karen Lowe.

The rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. on October 17th at Our Lady Queen of Peace, followed by a reception at 6:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 18th at Our Lady Queen of Peace with burial afterward at St. Mary's Cemetery in Windthorst. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice.

Regardless of the actual cause of death, she wanted everyone to know that she was eaten by wolves. She was delicious.
