Anne Julia Howe, 84, of Wichita Falls, left us to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 12, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26th at Lunn's Chapel with Hospice of Wichita Falls Chaplin, Justin King officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A daughter of the late Elsie Hawkins and Harry Hillman, and raised by Elsie and Dennis Castle, Anne was born May 1, 1937, in Barnes, England, and grew up in Brackley, England. She worked in the finance office on RAF Alconbury where she met the love of her life, Ervin Howe Jr. They had their first date July 4, 1963, and were married in November of that same year. During their 53 years of marriage, they moved with the Air Force, eventually settling down in the Texoma Community where they raised their 2 daughters, Sharon and Lisa. Anne retired from Civil Service at Sheppard AFB.

Anne was an independent, feisty woman, true to her roots with the kindest heart. She volunteered so much of her time advocating for animals. Anne worked with the Humane Society of Wichita County for decades, including taking a dog to KFDX every Friday in hopes of finding them a home. She worked hard at the P.E.T.S Clinic from day one, ensuring cats and dogs were able to get shots, spays and neuters to help keep unwanted litters out of the shelters. She would often take in strays, stop to scoop up the abandoned from the roadsides and give a home to an elderly dog that may get overlooked for adoption.

Anne's time outside of volunteering was spent doing things she loved: traveling, spending time with family, visiting her sister in England, and working in her garden. She loved her flowers and could spend hours at Smith's Gardentown looking for more things to add to an already beautifully manicured yard. Anne was a Texas transplant but an English woman at heart, and that heart bled blue for her Dallas Cowboys, She was a devoted fan, rarely missed a game and would cheer them on loudly from her living room.

Anne was a magnetic soul, who never met a stranger. She loved this community and enjoyed visiting with everyone she met. Her quick-wit and sense of humor was top notch, and her love of life was unmatched. Her warm smile and loving nature will be missed tremendously.

Along with her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Howe Jr.

She is survived by her daughters; Sharon Howe Quehl and husband George Quehl; and Lisa Howe Pettijohn; grandchildren, Michelle, Ashleigh, Joshua and wife Samantha; Thomas, Emily, Marissa, Hannah and husband Conner; and Lukas; great grandchildren, Tyler and Elliot; and her sister Lilibet Cross and husband Roland Cross.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Humane Society of Wichita County, Hospice of Wichita Falls, or PETS Veterinary Clinic.
