Anne Smith Jeffus passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 96 years of age. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on March 17, 1929, to parents Minnie Dell (Ellis) and Harris A. Smith. In 1935, the family moved to New York City and remained there until she graduated from high school.

She graduated from Colby Sawyer College in New London, NH in 1948 with Key Honors. She married Jack M. Jeffus in 1948 in New York City, and they moved to Wichita Falls in March of 1949.

Ms. Jeffus had been a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church since April of 1949. Her faith in God and Our Lord was the backbone of her whole life.

As a young woman she served on many Boards including the American Red Cross , American Cancer Society, Wichita Falls Symphony League, the Women's Society of the First Presbyterian Church, and was a Boy Scout and Campfire Girl leader. She was also the first Treasurer of the Republican's Women's Club and an instrumental figure in organizing the Ki-Ann Club, which was the women's arm of The Kiwanis Club. She was a member of the Carousel Club, the Sr. Jr. Forum, the Wichita Club, the Country Club, and the Women's Forum. She, her husband and six other local couples, organized The Broadway Theater League in which she was responsible for booking and bringing national touring companies of current Broadway plays to the Wichita Falls Memorial Auditorium.

On February 25, 1980, she joined the staff of the Presbyterian Manor, as one of its first employees. Shortly after, she became its Executive Bookkeeper, Payroll Clerk, and Account Manager and remained in that capacity until her retirement in 2004.

In 2004, Ms. Jeffus was appointed to the Board of Directors of the North Texas Rehabilitation Center where she helped with the annual Ranch Roundup and was a charter member of the Wranglers. One of her proudest moments when she was the recipient of the Saddle Award.

Anne's passions in life include music, knitting, and all things green, namely, her garden at her cottage. Looking out her windows at the wonder of God's nature was always one of her greatest pleasures. In her later days, Anne joined the internet movement and loved the many friends she met from near and far. She and her friends organized a Prayer Warrior Group that she was very proud of, and it reached over the United States and abroad. Seldom a day went by that she wasn't petitioned to spread the word of our Lord and Savior to her fellow Warriors as they shared their faith and sent up prayers for the troubled, afflicted or infirm. Her faith in the Lord was endless and shaped her entire life.

Her family was her life, her passion, and her delight. She is survived by her children, Marshall Jeffus of Wichita Falls, Sandy Jeffus Dillard of Fort Worth, Lisa Jeffus Powers and husband Mark of Fischer, and nine grandchildren - Bradley Litteken (Nynemi), Leslie Anne Lee, Kellie Lee, McKenna Jeffus Lalani (Shea), Jordan Jeffus Cain (Wheeler), Sarah Powers Cibelli (Peter), Zachary Powers, Amy Ketner (Danny), Adam Whitmire, and great grandchildren, Carsyn, Hudson and Sloane Lalani; Beelia Litteken; Tripp, Townes, Crosby and Collier Cain; Olivia, Beau and Louie Cibelli; Charlotte and Henry Whitmire; and Maggie, Lila Jane, and William Ketner.

She was forever grateful for the following dearly loved ones whose guidance and care she revered: they were the children of her heart- David Rogas, Vicki I Jeffus, Tori and Mike Sheen, Jan and Jimmy Oakley and Janet Twining.

A memorial service will be held for Anne at First Presbyterian Church, on Monday, September 29 at 2:00 pm with visitation immediately afterwards in the church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, her wish was that memorials be made to the W. James Oakley Good Samaritan Fund of the Presbyterian Manor, 4600 Taft Blvd, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
