Barbara Jane Marley, 75, passed in peace at Hospice of Wichita Falls on Sunday, June 27th, 2021. Barbara was a long time resident of Wichita Falls.

After her husband's passing in 2013, Barbara resided with family in Argyle, Texas. As her long battle with cancer was coming to a close, she decided to return to Wichita Falls to be nearer her friends and her home as she rested in hospice care.

Barbara was born January 8th, in Queens, New York to Al and Doris Ridinger; a birthdate that Barbara would always remind you she shared with Elvis Presley. She was the first child of the family, to be followed by her sister Cathy, and her brother John.

Her earliest days were spent living in Westover Hills, a post war housing development in Wichita Falls, located behind the Channel 6 studios on Seymour Highway. It was there, among those small white government houses, that she would come to know her soul mate, David Marley.

The Ridinger family would move to Alamo Street in southwest Wichita Falls. At that time Edgemere Division was just a few houses in pasture land. Al Ridinger stabled horses behind the property, where Barbara would learn to ride and care for horses, memories that Barbara was very proud of. Barbara attended nearby Fain Elementary School. She would go on to attend Wichita Falls High School, where she was selected to the National Honors Society. Intelligence and hard work were virtues she held dearly.

Barbara would marry David Marley of Wichita Falls on September 3rd, 1965. The Vietnam War would bring David into the Unites States Navy, where Barbara was a services wife serving the US Saratoga.

Her labor of love was personal banking. At age 18, her first job was in banking at First Wichita. Years of serving Wichitans at Bank One, Chase Bank, and Fidelity Bank formed lasting bonds with many people in the community.

Barbara's greatest joy in life, and ultimate hobby, was boating. It can not be over-stated her love of the water, sunshine, and gorgeous sunsets. Barbara also cherished friendships, family, laughter and good times.Barbara will be remembered for her her tenacity and strong will, as she fought to overcome a long battle against cancer.

She is survived by her eldest son, Jeff Marley and wife Jennifer Bright Marley; second son, Scott Marley and wife Melannie Wisecup Marley; grandchildren: Payton Marley, Sean Marley, Connor Marley, Ian Marley and Maddie Marley. Surviving also are her sister, Cathy Ridinger Grimes and husband Clyde Grimes; and brother John Ridinger.

Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 2, 2021 at Lunns Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
