Barbara Robinson Standley, 87, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the home of her daughter in Flint, Texas.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2nd at Lunn’s. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m Saturday, October 3rd at Lunn’s Chapel with Larry Suttle officiating. Private interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

Barbara Robinson Standley was born October 31, 1938, to Dorsey and Gladys Robinson. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1956 and from the Wichita General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, thus beginning a long career of nursing and caring deeply for others. After her marriage, Barbara worked for the Civil Service for the USAF and VA hospitals, in locations including Dover DE, Roswell, NM, Little Rock, AR, Bonham, TX, and Memphis, TN. In 1979, she returned to Wichita Falls and worked at Sheppard AFB until her retirement in 1999.

Along the way, Barbara cared for many family and friends. She always assisted in any way she could whether with trips to the doctor's office or providing nursing to those sick or recovering from surgery. In 1991, along with Joan Gray, Col (Ret. USAF), they established one of the first breast cancer support groups at SAFB for military personnel and their spouses. This began a lifelong friendship with these ladies, one that continues to this day. Barbara loved to square dance and served in several roles at the local, regional and state levels. She was a member of the Wichita Falls Solos Square Dance Club among others. It was at Square Dance that she met her partner and companion Leonard Lowry. Other passions included flower gardening and travel. Barbara was a member of the 10th & Broad Church of Christ.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey and Gladys Robinson; her younger brother, Bobby Robinson; and Leonard Lowry.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Standley; her brother, Jimmy Robinson; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored. She is also survived by Sharon Jiles and Leticia Johnson, caregivers who loved her.
