Benita Lynn Sonsini, 72, of Wichita Falls, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2026, at Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Benita was born on July 17, 1954, in Olney, Texas to Ben and Juanita Lasater.

She grew up in Olney and attended Olney High School where she graduated in 1972.

Shortly after graduating, she met her husband Serge Sonsini. They quickly fell in love and married on June 23, 1973. Together they were married for 53 years and raised three children, Chris, L’Ann, and John. Benita helped Serge launch his career in Insurance and continued to support him in their success at his agency until his retirement, all while being a present mother in her children’s life.

Benita was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a dear friend to those who knew her well. She had an incredible love for reading and could lose herself in books for hours, always ready for the next story. Her faith in God was also an important part of who she was. She believed in something greater than herself and carried that belief throughout her life. Benita will be remembered for the love she gave, her generous and caring heart, the friendships she made, the life she shared with her husband and kids, her love of books, and her love for Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ben Lasater; mother, Juanita Lasater; brother, Ronnie Lasater; father-in-law, Adolph Sonsini; mother-in-law, Erna Sonsini; and brother-in-law, Steven Sonsini.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Serge Sonsini; their three children, Chris Sonsini and his girlfriend, Heather Stone; L’Ann Stoiloff and her husband, John Lee Stoiloff; and John Sonsini and his wife, Allie Sonsini; her grandchildren, Logan Sonsini, JL Stoiloff, Laila Stoiloff, Emerson Sonsini, and Madison Sonsini; her best friend and sister, Mary Jo Lasater, and her partner, James Hourigan; her brother-in-law Mitchell Sonsini and his wife, Tia Sonsini; her nephew, Cameron Sonsini; and numerous cousins and close friends who loved her.

Benita’s funeral will be held at Grace Church on Stone Lake Dr on August 29th, 2026 at 11:00 am. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest at Lakecreek Cemetery following the service.
