Dr. Walter William "Bill" Riddle, Sr., 85, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2026.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Paul Goodrich officiating.

Bill was born on July 22, 1940, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Mary Ruth (Bright) and James Hubert Riddle. As the youngest child, Bill had three older sisters, Shirley, Carolyn and Kay.  Prior to moving to Wichita Falls, the Riddles lived in Archer City. It was during this time that Bill developed his lifelong love of animals.

Bill attended Alamo Elementary, Zundy Jr. High, and Wichita Falls High School. He graduated high school in 1958, from Peacock Military Academy.  He then graduated from Midwestern State University, where he obtained both his undergraduate degree and a master's degree.

Bill and Carol Anne Holcomb married on April 16, 1966.  They were particularly proud of recently celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

After a brief career as the lab director for the City of Wichita Falls, Bill moved his family to Bryan-College Station to attend Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating in 1975, he moved back to Wichita Falls and founded Colonial Park Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Mike Bomar. This venture marked the beginning of a great partnership and friendship.

Bill had a passion for nature and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Upon retiring, Bill spent countless hours at Possum Kingdom Lake and his beloved farm.

Bill was the proud father of Walter, Guy and Nancy.  He had a unique bond with each of his daughters-in-law and his son-in-law. He was Grandaddy and Candaddy to his seven grandchildren and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his future (and first) great grandchild, Georgia Ruth Martin.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley Kerner; his brothers-in-law, Peter Husting, Tom Reed and Mory Kerner; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Geraldine and Guy Holcomb.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Anne Riddle; his sons, Walter W. Riddle, Jr. (Kristen) and Guy Hubert Riddle (Nan); his daughter, Nancy Riddle Davenport (Todd); and his grandchildren, Beth Anne Martin (Ryan), Emma Riddle, Hank Riddle, Caroline Ruth Abernathy (Logan), Olivia Davenport, Claire Davenport and Gigi Riddle.

He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Wolcott (Sam); his sister, Kay Reed; his nieces, Jennifer (Paula) and Gretchen; and his nephew, Chuck.

The family thanks the entire staff of Hospice of Wichita Falls who cared for Bill during his final weeks and provided comfort and support to both him and the entire family.
