Billy Ray (Bill) Snider departed this earthly life to be with his Lord and Savior on January 22, 2021. Bill accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 12 and was faithful to the Lord in many ways during his lifetime. Church attendance and volunteering were important to Bill was currently residing in Wichita Falls, but he'd been a lifelong resident of the Waco area (McGregor Crawford). He was born to parents Robert and Florence (Warren) Snider on June 30, 1934. As the youngest of six children, he grew up experiencing a hard life doing farm work for a sharecropping father, who died when Bill was only nine years old. However, the work ethic Bill learned from his father stayed with him for a lifetime. He was later blessed with a good step-father that spent time with him and developed Bill's love for all things sports related.

After high school graduation, Bill enlisted in the US Army. Upon completion of 12 weeks of training, he was sent to Fort Myers, Virginia in Washington D.C. Bill became a member of the Old Guard Honor Guard. He was very proud of the time he spent there and he had many memorable experiences, such as marching in presidential parades. After returning to civilian life, in 1959 he met and married (whirlwind courtship) the love of his life Peggy Hill. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years together. Their daughter Kimberly (Kim) was the pride and joy of his life. In 1963, Bill joined the  Waco Fire  Department and he enjoyed a 31-year career, most of that time working as an Inspector. He loved his job and enjoyed great camaraderie with his 3 fellow inspectors.

During Kim's childhood, the family enjoyed taking summer vacations by car and sightseeing across America. Later in life, Bill and Peggy enjoyed motor coach tours, playing games with friends, and church volunteer work. The past few years, spending time with Kim, and her husband Norman, became his favorite thing to do. The family enjoyed day trips, grilled dinners, porch sitting, and simply being together. He was so very proud of Norman. Bill would brag, to anyone who would listen, what a great son-in-law he had. He thought Norman could handle or fix any situation. Bill frequently said that Norman was one of the best things that ever happened to the family. Bill and Peggy moved to Pres. Manor to be near Norman and Kim. They thoroughly enjoyed their cottage and all the new friendships they formed. For as long as his health permitted, Bill     enjoyed Manor activities and looked forward to Monday morning coffee with his men friends – especially Tom Shaw and Albert Watts.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Kim, son-in-law Norman and beloved niece, Betty Johnston and her husband Scott. He has two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
