Billy Edd Gowan, 87, of Wichita Falls, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

Son of the late Zaidee (McKinney) and William Edd Gowan, Bill was born on November 15, 1935, in Wichita Falls. His early childhood was spent in Weatherford, Texas, returning to Wichita Falls to attend Zundy Jr. High and play tennis for Wichita Falls High School. He continued playing tennis for Texas Tech and went on to graduate from SMU Law School. While at SMU, he met Joan and they married in 1961. They again returned to Wichita Falls where they welcomed and raised two daughters, Cristi and Joanna. He practiced law until his retirement from Tate, Gowan, Wilson in 2013.

Throughout his career and retirement, he enjoyed the friendships and competition with his twice-weekly golf group. One of Bill's greatest joys was serving Grace Church as a shepherd with his fellow elders. He was grateful for his friends, his family, and his family in the Lord, yet was always amazed by the grace of Jesus and His death and resurrection.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Osborn Gowan; his brother, Tom Gowan and family; his daughters Cristi Wilson and Joanna Rettenmaier; sons-in-law Greg Wilson and Andy Rettenmaier; granddaughters Sara Wilson and Emme Rettenmaier; and cousins Mike McKinney and Betsy McKinney Bechtold.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27th at Grace Church with Lance Bourgeois, Joe Cook and Reggie Coe officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
