Brenda Lea Stephens, 70, of Wichita Falls, passed away on October 17, 2022, at Hospice of Wichita Falls. She was surrounded by her loved ones leading up to her passing, while the love of her life, Ken Stephens, was in her presence at the time of her passing.

A celebration of life will be held at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Wichita Falls at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 ^th with Chaplain Darren Ward officiating.

Brenda was born on December 22, 1951, to George and Dorotha Rucker. While enrolled in Arlington High School, Brenda was the leading actress in many theater performances. After graduation, Brenda went on to compete in the Miss Arlington pageant where she was crowned "Miss Arlington". Brenda competed in the Miss Texas competition in 1970; ultimately, she did not win the competition, but held many appreciable memories, which her daughters and granddaughter enjoyed hearing and reliving with her.

In 1972, Brenda married George Medlen, with whom she shares twins, Kristy and Mandy. After the birth of her daughters, Brenda dedicated her life to being a devoted mother. Brenda excelled at motherhood and was the true foundation of her family. Even as an attentive mother, Brenda never lost appreciation for the arts. Brenda performed in plays as an adult, with her favorite role being the Wicked Witch in "The Wizard of Oz".  Frequently, Brenda's voice would echo her home with her favorite musical tunes. She was an outstanding cook, singer, and actress; she always knew the right thing to say, never missed a special date, and instilled her love of singing and acting in her children and grandchildren.

Brenda married her husband, Ken, in 1996. Ken and Brenda, or "Barbie and Ken" as their closest friends endearingly called them, were married for 26 years. They were best friends and true soul mates. The inseparable pair traveled to many countries, walked countless beaches, and shared many laughs, triumphs, and a limitless amount of love.

Brenda was a central figure in the lives of her daughters and her oldest granddaughter, Brittany. Anyone who knew Brenda knew they were her greatest accomplishments and gave her the purest happiness and joy. Brenda was a true follower of Jesus Christ and believed deeply in the power of prayer.  She was a member of various churches throughout her lifetime, and she was a paramount singer in many church choirs around the world. Brenda was the dedicated music assistant at First Baptist Church, a role that embodied her greatest passions - our Lord and music.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jeffery Medlen.

She is survived by her husband Ken; daughters, Kristy Bishop and Mandy Stafford; grandchildren Brittany, Chase, Jackson, and Savannah; great-grandchildren Hayden and Benjamin; sisters, Glenda and Melanie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
