Buddy Trumpf, long time resident of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away of natural causes in his home on February 6, 2021 at the age of 66.

Buddy was born Walter Ernest Trumpf, Jr. to Walter and Mavis Trumpf on July 21, 1954. He was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School, where he was on the golf team, and Texas A&M University. After graduation he worked for Goodyear in Akron, OH before returning to Wichita Falls to work as a salesman and branch manager for two different freight companies. Buddy later joined with a partner to develop a new Putt-Putt recreation center in Wichita Falls. He also developed his own freight company (Sure Shot Transportation) which he ran until his retirement in 2019.

During all of his time in Wichita Falls, Buddy was active in the local golfing community and also played in and won numerous tournaments around the state of Texas. He was always up for a round of golf with all of his long-time golfing pals. As one of his friends said, "Buddy is with Jesus now, playing golf with no bogies!"

Buddy was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and was active in Colonial Church where he was a Deacon. Buddy was a constant volunteer at the Church doing work that included a mission trip to Peru, driving the bus to pick up members of the congregation for services, greeting congregation members for church services, working annually on the "At the Movies" sets every summer, mowing the Church grounds and organizing a fund-raising golf tournament to benefit the Church.

Buddy was always quick to help others and to make everyone laugh with his unique, goofy and joking personality. He was one of the truly good guys, and he will be greatly missed by all.

Buddy is survived by his ex-wife Jamie Trumpf, stepson Stuart Sutherland and wife Mariah and their children, Kaid and Lizzie, stepdaughter Rachel Sutherland Kurtz and husband Marc and their children, Sophie, Ella and Annabel, stepdaughter Cidney Trumpf Drake and husband Trevor and their children, Cooper and Claire, sister Nora Trumpf Story and husband Jim and their son Chris Story and daughter Nicole Story Dent and her husband Josh, brother-in-law Henry Benninghoff, nieces Abby Benninghoff and Karen Barnett and her husband Cliff Barnett, and nephew Buck Stout and his wife Laura, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding Buddy in death were parents Walter Ernest Trumpf and Mavis Holcomb Trumpf, sister Mary Anne Trumpf Stout, and sister Linda Trumpf Benninghoff.

While Buddy had requested that no formal memorial service be held for him, we have organized an informal gathering for his relatives, friends, fellow church members and golfing buddies to allow us to share stories about the good and sometimes crazy things we remember about Buddy's mortal journey.

Please join us on Friday, February 12th between 6-8 PM at Colonial Church located at 4300 Maplewood Ave., Wichita Falls, TX 76308. The remembrance will be held down the east hallway in Room MR1. We would love to see you there to help celebrate the life of Buddy Trumpf!

To give you something to look forward to, Buddy also requested that we set up a golf tournament at River Creek Golf Club to give every interested person an opportunity to play a round of golf in his memory and for a good time to be had by all. We will be working with River Creek to set this up at a later date in the spring or summer months.
