Carolyn Ann Pyrum-Murphy passed away on January 5, 2022

She was born on October 14, 1943 in Altus, Oklahoma. Carolyn met the love of her life Joe B. Murphy at Fairview Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma, where she was a member of the choir. Joe waited by a tree to ask Carolyn out on their first date attending a Southeastern State University basketball game on leap year 1964, and then enjoying ice cream from Ashburn's. After their first date, Carolyn and Joe began a nearly 58-year love affair, marrying on August 29, 1964.

Carolyn was a ray of sunshine and a true beauty inside and out, a devoted wife and mother, a devout Christian, and one of the best executive administrative assistants in the oil and gas industry working for Algur H. Meadows in Dallas, Texas, Morgan Brothers in Wichita Falls, Texas, and Bentley & Laing in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Her infectious smile and outgoing personality would light up any room she entered. Carolyn lived her life grounded on the rock of Jesus Christ and she could do all the things through Christ who strengthened her. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a gentle, kind, witty and selfless soul who will be dearly missed by her entire family.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents William J. and Blanche Larson-Pyrum; brother William Eugene Pyrum; father-in-law Iver Murphy anmother-in-law Stella Murphy; and brother-in-law Robert E. Engles, Sr.

Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of nearly fifty-eight years, Joe B. Murphy of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter Debbie Murphy-Dana and son-in-law Farid Dana of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter Jennifer Murphy of Bedford, Texas; sister Phyllis Engles of Durant, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Larry Murphy of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law Janis Murphy of Fort Worth, Texas; and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration of Carolyn's life will be scheduled to occur in Durant, Oklahoma. One of Carolyn's favorite scriptures from which she gained strength and encouragement was Isaiah 40:31: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint." We are truly blessed to have known and been loved by her.
