Carolyn Faith Featherston Rogers went home to glory on January 12, 2026. After loving JOY all of her life, she is now living it.

Carolyn was born to Willa Mae Gillaspia and Woodie Featherston in Wichita Falls, Texas, on March 15, 1934.

She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1952 and from Midwestern University in 1956. She was active in Camp Fire Girls and was a camper, then a counselor at Camp Letoli in Saint Jo, Texas.

Carolyn professed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at an early age at First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls. She got to know CD Rogers at Midwestern through the choir and the Baptist Student Union. They married on December 30, 1955.

Her first teaching job was at Crockett Elementary School, where she worked until joining CD in Germany, where he was stationed in the Army. After their return to the states, she attended Texas Woman's University, where she earned her Librarian Certificate. She served in the library at several local elementary schools, including Austin, Kate Haynes, Huey, Washington, and Cunningham.

Carolyn was an employee of WFISD for a total of thirty-three years before retiring in 1991. She also ran a high school library in Van Meter, Iowa, when the family was living in Des Moines for three years. During her sojourn in Iowa, she served as president of Phi Delta Gamma.

Before and during their time in Iowa, CD served in several churches as Music Director, and Carolyn volunteered in youth ministry and the missions organization for girls (GAs). When they returned to Wichita Falls, they joined First Baptist, where they sang in the choir and helped out in the youth ministry. Carolyn taught 12th-grade girls for several years, then, when she retired, began teaching a women's class.

As much as she loved her library, Carolyn loved retirement even more. She attended Shirley Warren's Bible study, and sometimes found one or two more studies that she wanted to do. She and CD became seasoned travelers–enjoying trips to see their girls and most of the United States. She also made it to Egypt and took her daughters to Israel. While in Africa, she fulfilled lifelong dreams of riding across the desert in a hot air balloon, riding a camel, and going on a camera safari.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law, John. She is survived by her sister, Gayle Huffman, and also her daughters, Lynn Howell (Len) and Christi Gibson, also Carolyn McMurtry. Her grandchildren are Nathan Howell (Cara), Drew Howell (Callie), Matt Howell (Tessa), Callie Gibson (Mark Hall), and Trey Gibson (Emily), also Paula Henry and Sarah Espinoza (Saul). Her great-grandchildren include Zuri, Scarlett, Brodie, and Hazel Howell; Aleda Joy and Parker Gibson; and Cody and Jay Howard.

Family Visitation: 10:00 am, Saturday, January 17, 2026; First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls.

Celebration of Life: 11:00 am, Saturday, January 17, 2026; First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls
