Charlene Mae (Berry) Wilcox went to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 25, 2024.

Services to celebrate the life of Charlene will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, January 31st.

Charlene was born September 16, 1931, to Charles and Nona (Donley) Berry. She attended Wichita Falls High School and Midwestern State University where she earned a BS degree and returned to complete her teaching certificate in 1974.

She married Gene R. Wilcox, her college sweetheart, in 1954. They were married 51 years until his death in 2005.

She was heavily involved in her church life at Fain Memorial Presbyterian Church. She served as a deacon, an elder, Clerk of the session and many other committees.

She worked as an accountant for multiple oil and gas production companies, spending the last twenty-six years with Cobra Oil and Gas, retiring in 2004. While in the industry she was a member of the Council of Petroleum Accountants and Desk and Derrick. In between her oil and gas positions, she served as the accountant for Fain Presbyterian on a part time basis.

Charlene (as well as Gene) was very involved with her son Scott's activities from elementary school through high school. She earned her teaching certificate so she could teach at S. H. Rider High School while Scott was in attendance. Since her retirement in 2004, she enjoyed participating in Bible Study Fellowship and cherished the friendships she made there. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, walking and volunteering. In 2007, she joined P.E.O.

Her greatest joy was her son, Scott, daughter-in-law, Kathy and her two grandchildren (Ryan and Rachel) and her two great-grandchildren (Micah and Ruthie).

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her grandson, Ross Adam Wilcox; her sister, Wyneth Jacobson; brother-in-law, James (Jim) Jacobson; brother, Wilburn Berry; sister-in- law, Helyne Berry; brother, Lindy Berry; sister-in-law, Mary Berry; nephews, Richard (Dick) Berry and John Berry.

She is survived by her son, Scott Wilcox; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Sorenson) Wilcox; grandson, Ryan Wilcox; granddaughter, Rachel (Wilcox) Porter, Travis Porter; great-grandchildren Micah Porter and Ruthie Porter. She is also survived by nieces, Carol Alexander and Judy Collins; and nephews, Pat Berry and Kent Jacobson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Presbyterian Manor where Charlene was a resident for the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request memorials be made in Charlene's name to the Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund.
