Charles was born April 1, 1930, in Newport, Tennessee to Alonzo Harvey and Nettie Sue Harvey. He served in the military as a Senior Vehicle Operator for the Army from January of 1947 until December of 1949, he then enlisted into the Air Force where he was honorably discharged in September 1953.

He met the love of his life, Betty Jo Cooper Harvey, in 1953 and they got married on February 23, 1954. They remained married until her death on July 11, 2021.

Charles was the youngest of four children and was the last surviving sibling.

Charles devoted his life to his family. He was a dedicated employee for Continental Oil Company (Conoco) for forty years. During his employment he received many awards including numerous Million Mile Driver Awards reaching the remarkable Five Million Mile Driver Award. He retired in 1992.

After retirement, Charles began his vast array of jobs to keep busy. He drove buses all over the country, volunteered with the Wichita County Sheriff's Office Citizen's Alumni Association, American Red Cross Disaster Services, where he assisted in numerous disasters including the Virgin Islands Hurricane in 1995, the Oklahoma Bombing in 1995, the 911 Twin Tower Attack in 2001, the NASA Texas Columbia Shuttle Crash in 2003 and so many more. Charles has truly been a blessing in the lives of countless people through his generous donations of time, effort and knowledge.

Charles is survived by his loving family, Michael Harvey, Karen Harvey Barr, Steve Harvey (Judi), LeAnn Harvey Eubank (Joe) and Cindi Harvey Eubank: ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

On May 2, 2023, Charles was reunited with Betty, his parents and all of his siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
