Charles Ray Kernott

July 13, 1947 – April 11, 2026

Charles Ray Kernott, 78, passed peacefully into eternity on April 11, 2026, when his faith was made sight.

Charles was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Barbara Kernott, and a cherished brother to Kathy Kernott. He was a proud and caring father to Melissa Ward and her husband Darren, and Dana Kernott and her fiance, Uri Quarles. His greatest joy was being "Papa", to his beloved grandchildren: Christopher Ward, Joshua Ward, Eliana Ward, Zephaniah Crandall, Alliyanna Crandall, and Cierra Forrester, each of whom brought immense pride and happiness to his life. He was dearly loved by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Guadalupe Kernott; his parents, Mary Dee King Kernott and Ivan Ray Kernott, Jr.; his sister, Frances Elizabeth Kernott Rhodes; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bobby Hugh Webb and Tempey Arlene Webb.

Charles proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he remained deeply committed to his community. He was an active member of the Optimist Club and the Disabled American Veterans, where he also served faithfully as historian.

A man of many passions, Charles found joy in participating in dog shows, planting flowers, and tending to his yard. He enjoyed building model trains and planes and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys.

Above all, Charles loved Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he faithfully supported his church, Jan Lee Baptist Church in Burkburnett. He also gave generously to causes close to his heart, including Wounded Warriors, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and ReCreation Adventure Ministries.

Charles will be remembered for his faith, his heart to serve others, and his deep love for his family. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 17, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lunn's Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Texas. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 11:30 AM at Jan Lee Baptist Church in Burkburnett, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to Wounded Warriors.
