Charlie (Charles Phillip) Philbin, passed away on October 6, 2023 at the age of 24.  Charlie was born September 9, 1999 (9-9-99) to Holly and Phillip Philbin. An Eagle Scout, Charlie was a graduate of Highland Park High School and a current student at Southern Methodist University.  He was profoundly proud of both of his alma maters and was frequently seen wearing the red and blue of SMU.  A summer studying abroad at University College Oxford was an experience that he immensely enjoyed.

Charlie loved being a part of the Highland Park Cross Country Team where he was a Captain his senior year.  He continued his love of running competing in many races including a 5k, 10k, half marathon and marathon in four consecutive days where he was a top finisher in his age group.  At SMU, he was a proud member of BYX and an active member of Wesley House.

Charlie had a love for life and wanted to experience it all from learning to drive a stick shift in the Serengeti to wake surfing at Possum Kingdom, skiing the most challenging runs at Deer Valley and bungee jumping in New Zealand.  One of his favorite pastimes was just being in the kitchen with his mom and grandmother trying and creating new recipes.  He was always up for a round of golf with his dad, grandfather, brothers and friends.  Thursday game nights, family dinners, his quick wit and competitive nature will be greatly missed by many.

He was a committed and faithful Christian and enjoyed playing hymns on the piano, in particular Amazing Grace and The Battle Hymn of the Republic as they were his dad's and grandfather's favorites. He deeply loved his family, brothers, friends, cat Sebastian and his time working at Banditos where his co-workers were like family and his customers were his friends.  Cheers Charlie, we love you and we will miss you!

Charlie is survived by his parents, Holly and Phillip Philbin; brothers, Luke and Mark Philbin;  grandparents, Dianne and Mark Prothro; aunts and uncles, Micki and Don Philbin, Jennifer and Sean Vicente and Traci and Pat Prothro.  He is also survived by his cousins Michael and Sydney Vicente, Kate Philbin, Adri Kingston and many close friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his grandparents Sharon and Don Philbin and his cousin Donald R. Philbin III.

A  Graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls on Saturday October 14th at 11:00 am. There will be a Family Meet and Greet at the home of Mark and Dianne Prothro on Friday, October 13, 2013 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 10:00 am on October 18th in the Sanctuary at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas followed by a reception in the Great Hall.
