Cheryl Francis (McCown) Gilmore, age 74, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020.

Though no formal visitation will be held, friends are welcome to pay respects and sign the register book between the hours of 8:00 to 5:00 each day. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Lunn's with Rev. Rob Havens officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Cheryl was born on December 19 ^th , 1946, in Stanford, Texas, to Harold (Bill) McCown and Myrtle Faye (Modgling) McCown. She graduated in 1965 from S.H. Rider High School. Cheryl met the love of her life, Don Michael Gilmore of Henrietta, in October 1966.

Cheryl was the family's protector, peacekeeper, but mostly a best friend. Growing up she was a baton twirler and a basketball player. At fifty years of age, she returned to school to become a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Faye McCown; and a sister-in-law, Rita McCown.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Don Michael Gilmore of Wichita Falls, TX; three sons, Mark Gilmore and wife Sharon of Prosper, TX; Jody Gilmore and wife, Hilda of Prosper/Houston, TX; and Scott Gilmore and wife, Julie of Wichita Falls, TX; one brother, Larry McCown of Wichita Falls, TX; two sisters, Pam Vance and husband, Ken of Wichita Falls, TX; and Marcia Barton and husband Keith of Houston, TX; one sister-in-law, Sharon Gilmore of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren, Brittney and husband Cheyenne Starns; Zack Gilmore, Jake and wife, Madison Gilmore; Nathan and wife, Holly Long ; Steven and wife, Tess Long; Lauren and husband Luis Ron; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
