Clyde Leon Butler, Jr., 96, went home to be with Jesus, surrounded by his loving family, on October 19, 2023.

A service celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, October 24, at 1:00 pm at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, 2812 Midwestern Parkway, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76308, followed by interment at Crestview Memorial Park.

Leon was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was the most important thing in his life, and he was kind to everyone he met.

He was born December 29, 1926, in Miller Grove, Texas, to Clyde Leon, Sr., and Ethel Tressie McManus Butler. He was a graduate of East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce.

Clyde Leon and Anna Jean Matherly were married June 2, 1950, in Commerce, and were devoted to each other for almost 68 years before her death in 2018.

Leon proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II, and finished his civil servant career as a Systems Analyst at Shepherd Air Force Base. Life-long Baptist Christians, Leon and Anna were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife Anna, his parents, and 3 younger siblings. He is survived by his daughter LeAnn and husband Tom Box of Irving; son Dr. Barry and wife Kathryn Butler of Rowlett; nephew James Charles "Chuck" and wife Debbie White of McKinney; niece Linda Bishop of Wichita Falls; grandchildren Andy and wife Jenny Box, Lisa and husband Phillip Wagner, Brandon and wife Lesley Butler, Elizabeth Butler; great nephews Jeff and wife Amy White of Prosper and Bradford and wife Rachael of Prosper; and six great grandchildren.
