Clyde Earl Williford, 74, of Wichita Falls, Texas, went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2023.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Sunday, April 16, 2023, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at First Christian Church with Dr. Mark Bender and Dr. David Hartman officiating. A graveside service will be held immediately after the funeral service at Rosemont Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Clyde was born on February 10, 1949, in Vernon, Texas. Clyde graduated from Rider High School and studied at Midwestern State University (MSU).  Shortly after high school, Clyde spent 6 years serving our country in the Texas Army National Guard. A hard and dedicated worker, Clyde spent 33 years at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), where he held multiple positions, finally retiring as the District Traffic Manager and accident investigator. While at TxDOT, Clyde spent evenings completing the Texas law enforcement training program and became a Reserve Deputy for the Wichita County Sheriff's Office. Clyde served as a Reserve Deputy for 16 years, and following his retirement from TxDOT became a full-time Sheriff's Deputy for another 9 years. Clyde retired from the Wichita County Sheriff's Office after a total of 25 years of service. An ever-faithful public servant, after his second retirement, Clyde continued to work part-time as a law enforcement officer for the Wichita Falls Municipal Court, the Wichita Falls Regional Airport, and for the U.S. Marshall's Service.

In high school Clyde met the love of his life, Joanne Cocke. After 6 years of dating, they were married Dec 29. 1972 at First Christian Church, just a few weeks after Joanne graduated from MSU. This past December Clyde and Joanne celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In his personal time, Clyde enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking his 1981 Corvette to car shows, watching NASCAR, sneaking "bunny ears" into family photos, and spoiling his grandchildren. Clyde had an affinity for military history, stemming from his father's service during World War II.  An avid fan of personal fitness, Clyde enjoyed working out, and during his high school and National Guard years Clyde competed as a boxer. Combining his love of barbecuing and public service, Clyde volunteered for the Mavericks of Wichita Falls. Clyde was a loving husband, father, grandparent, uncle, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Williford and Hilda (Turkett) Williford, and his sister Linda Lane.

Clyde is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Joanne; a son, Richard Williford of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Lee Ann Stride and her husband Eric of San Antonio; a brother, Lonnie Tucker and his wife Sheila of Dean; grandchildren (to whom he was known as Papa), Leia, Alexandra, Keith, Carter, Luke, and multiple foster grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Alto, Chase, and grand-dog Emily.
