Daniel A. Shine, affectionately known as Dan by his loved ones, passed away on April 30, 2023, at the age of 87, in the loving embrace of his family. He was born on March 6, 1936, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Daniel and Frances (Willen) Shine. He completed his high school education at Wichita Falls High School and went on to earn a degree in business with a minor in economics from Midwestern State University.

After college, Dan married Sue Weber and served in the Army before returning to Wichita Falls to purchase Willen Electric Company from his uncles. Dan was a diligent and dedicated businessman, tirelessly working to ensure the success of his company. His commitment to providing exceptional service to his clients and community earned him a reputation as a passionate leader in his field.

In addition to his work at Willen Electric, Dan was actively involved in the community. He served as the Boy Scout Council President for the Northwest Texas Council, the Kiwanis Club President, and the MClub president. Additionally, Dan was a member of the Campfire Board, Wichita County 4-H Board, YMCA board, Fantasy of Lights Board, Knights of Columbus, and the Wichita Falls City Council. He was also an active member of the National Electrical Contractors Association, where he served as governor and president of the Red River Chapter for many years. He was inducted into the Academy of Electrical Contracting.

Dan was a deeply devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he served on the cemetery and finance boards for many years. He played a significant role in the construction of the new Queen of Peace Catholic Church and received the Benemerenti Medal from Pope Benedict XVI in 2011.

Dan loved to travel and spent many memorable vacations with his wife, friends, extended family, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and cheering on MSU athletics.

Dan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue; his children, Kathy Neeb and husband Chris, Danny and his wife Janet, Diane Smith, and Laura Richards and her husband Michael; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Dan's kindness, hard work, and dedication left a lasting impression on everyone he met, from lifelong friends to strangers he met over a cup of coffee. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

A rosary, wake, and visitation will be held at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 4th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 10:00 am on May 5th, with interment following at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made in honor of Dan to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church or any of the organizations listed above to which he served with energy and enthusiasm.
