Mrs. Dannie Mary Hargrave Shawver died on April 28th 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2nd at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3rd at University United Methodist Church Chapel with Rev. Paul Goodrich and Rev. Zach Landis officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Seymour, Texas, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shawver was born on December 23, 1927, in Seymour to Jessie Lee Portwood Hargrave and Murrie G. Hargrave. Mrs. Shawver's grandfather, W. H. Portwood was an early rancher whose main headquarters were in Seymour, Texas. His family came to the Republic of Texas and settled in Red River County, now Hopkins County, in 1842, and are buried in Seymour. The same year, her grandfather, Charles Edward Hargrave's family had the first general store in Hopkins County, Texas, moving to Dallas in the 1900's and are buried there.

Following her graduation from Seymour High School, she attended Texas Tech and TCU, married and graduated from from MSU with her teaching certificate. She and George Shawver married in Seymour then moved to Dallas, Texas. They eventually moved back to the ranch in Megargel, Texas, when her grandfather W.H .Portwood died in 1948, living in and out of Wichita Falls for a number of years. Mr. and Mrs. Shawver had two children, Sharron Shawver Andrews Wright and H. Lee Shawver.

Mrs. Shawver was an active member of many community organizations throughout her life time including her church and the Kell House. She enjoyed hosting many vintage style shows for charity organizations and was a long-time rancher and teacher.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Shawver was also preceded in death by her husbands, George Shawver and J.E. Russell; her daughter, Sharron Shawver Wright; and cousins, Jerri Ann Portwood, Sammy Ann Portwood Morris and Helen Lee Portwood.

She is survived by her son H. Lee Shawver and his wife, Paula of Megargel, TX; grandchildren, Georgia Lee Shawver and her husband, Emmanuel Marcha London, England; great-grandsons, Theo and Mai of London, London, England; grandsons, Charles Gary Andrews and wife, Donna of Decatur; and Curtis L. Shawver; great-granddaughter Libby Day Shawver of Dallas, TX; and son-in-law, Don Wright Wichita Falls, TX.
