Long-time Wichita Falls, Texas, resident and local artist Delories Colbert Nielsen passed away on November 13, 2023, after a long illness.  She was 92.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on November 18th at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Shane Cannedy officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation following the service. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on November 21st at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Delories was born October 19, 1931, in Thalia, Texas, to Commodore and Flora May Colbert.  Soon after, her family moved to the Waggoner Ranch, where she was raised near Rock Crossing as her father worked for several oil companies.  In 1947, the family moved to Markley, Texas, and lived on the Prideaux Ranch.  She graduated from Antelope High School in 1947.

Later in life, Delories took up oil painting and excelled in her work.  She is known for her beautiful paintings of landscapes, portraits and architectural settings.  Her paintings were highly sought after by family, friends and admirers of her work.

She was a warm, loving, patient person who was often described by others as "classy."  Delories was the center of all holidays and family gatherings, and will be dearly missed by the many family and friends who loved her.

Delories was a member of Tenth and Broad Church of Christ for more than 50 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard Colbert and Juel Colbert; two sisters, Pauline Colbert and Murphy Lee Williams; and husband, Max Nielsen.

Delories is survived by sons David Mark Hoard of Wichita Falls, James Hoard and wife Debbie of Richardson, Texas; three grandchildren, David Bryan Hoard and wife Lyndsea of Edinburg, Texas, Kimberlie McPherson and husband Justin of Wichita Falls, and Matthew Hoard and wife Abby of Burbank, California; and four great-grandchildren, Cayden McPherson of Wichita Falls, Logan McPherson of Wichita Falls, Aiden Hoard of Burbank and Ella Hoard of Burbank.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sonshine House at Tenth and Broad Church of Christ in Wichita Falls.
