Dickie D. Dixon, 87, an avid outdoorsman who embraced life and people, began his new life in heaven on Oct. 22, 2024, surrounded at home by three generations of family. He looked forward to joining his love of 65 years, his late wife Jackie.

Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at Lunn's chapel, with John Riggs, Texoma Cowboy Church pastor, officiating. Internment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park, under direction of Lunn's.

Dickie was born in Wichita Falls, Tex., November 18, 1936, the only child of Pete and Corky Dixon. In 1955, he graduated from Wichita Falls High School where he met Jackie. He married her in 1955, and attended Midwestern State University. They raised their daughters Kim and Kathy just blocks from his parents and other family. A proud dad, as soon as he could take his daughters hunting or fishing, he did. The family enjoyed their lake house and hunting lease, and Dickie especially liked cooking game and fish for friends and family. Outgoing and warm, he made easy friends with customers who came into his business, Southmoor Marine (one customer became his son-in-law!), and he also enjoyed working as a sign-painter with his father.

A professional bass fisherman, Dickie was a competitive trap shooter too, and helped support trap shooting teams, including his great-grandsons'. Beloved as Pop, he was involved in the lives of his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He enjoyed community service, especially supporting the youth of the community, often taking them on youth hunting trips. He and his late wife spearheaded fundraising efforts for the Field and Stream's Fishing Lake on Southwest Parkway, and he served Field and Stream as director and president. He also helped found the local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He ministered to others in his own kind ways, and also served as a Masonic Shriner.

Dickie is preceded in death by his wife Jackie, and his parents. He is survived by daughters Kim Parker (Jim) of Yantis, Tx., and Kathy Stovall of Lake Arrowhead Ranch Estates; his grandchildren, all of whom will be pallbearers, (along with Cad Michalski), Dixon Stovall; Bradon Stovall (Abby); Dillon Stovall; Zachary Parker (honorary); Ashley Prewitt (Alan); Justin Parker (Kate); great-grandchildren, Dally Parker; Landrie Parker; Jace Parker; Sam Parker; Abilene Prewitt; Ainsley Prewitt; and great-great-grandchild, Bailey Stovall.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Refuge Care Hospice, and particularly to Dickie's nurses, Korie, Kayla, Cindy, and Samantha, along with his other loving helpers, Leonette Crumpler and Jackie Quinney, all of whom became like family to him.
