Dorothy Jean Stout of Wichita Falls was 99 years old when she left her life in this world on September 30 ^th to be with her heavenly Father. She was known by most everyone, especially her loved ones, as Mema.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery (1917 Archer City Highway) with Rev. Alice Hupp officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Mema was born in Spanish Fort, TX on October 23, 1921 to John Robert Stewart and Belle Marie Harmon. She was the oldest of fourteen children. Mema was raised from a child to a young woman in the Kamay and Valley View communities. She fell in love with Robert (Bob) E. Lee Stout and the two were joined in holy matrimony on November 18, 1946. Together they bore three children, daughters Scottie and Robbie and their son, David.

Mema and Bob lived a life of faith, family, and entrepreneurial adventures that took them from Wichita Falls, TX to a dairy farm in Arkansas and eventually back to Wichita Falls, where they owned and operated Stout's Laundry and Dry Cleaners for over 50 years.

Mema enjoyed many activities such as reading, sewing, crocheting, and especially cooking. She enjoyed cooking because it fostered one of her other favorite things in life, personal relationships. She knew in her heart that the one sure-fire way to bring people together in fellowship was through food, and hers was some of the best you ever tasted. Whether it was Sunday afternoon after church, or Christmas Eve after candle light services, her home was alive with the love and laughter of family and friends. The rich aromas of fried chicken, homemade pecan pie, or homemade Christmas candy would greet you at the door. She loved the company of others and had a God gifted ability to make anyone feel at home, needed, and important. She could sit and visit all day. She told the best stories, rich in family history and often laced with her loving sense of humor. Her smile and laughter were contagious.

Mema's love of people and fellowship flowed from her faith in Christ and her personal relationship with Him. Simply put, her relationship with Christ was the single most important thing in her life and because of that, every relationship she had was stronger in Him. She committed her life to Christ and served Him faithfully. She was baptized at Highland Heights Christian Church on September 20, 1953. She eventually became a member of Park Place Christian Church and was their oldest living charter member! Mema loved her church and everyone in it. Christ's work through Mema was evident and can be summed up in 1Corinthians 13: 7-8, "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."

Mema is survived by her loved ones: daughter Scottie Robbins and husband Sonny of Wylie, Texas; daughter Robbie Ashley and husband J.B. of Wichita Falls, Texas; son David Stout of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren Summer Larson and husband Jeff of Sandy, Utah; Amber Mathews and husband Jason of Roanoke, Texas; Cy Ashley and wife Kayce of Henrietta, Texas; Monica Huchton and husband Jason of Holiday, Texas; Paige Martinez and husband Robert of McKinney, Tx; great grandchildren Skylar and Jayden Graham; Luke and Layne Mathews; Cole, Caleb, and Cannon Ashley; Cade, Addison, Landry, and Hadley Huchton; Jaelyn, Grayson, and Anistyn Martinez; and one great great granddaughter Ava EraMae Ashley; and many more nieces, nephews, and friends.
