Eddy Gene Dickey, 80, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4th at Lunn's. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5th in Lunn's Chapel with Pastor Chad Stubblefield officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of the late Ruth (Canady) and James Virl Dickey, Eddy was born on November 18, 1944, in Phillips, Texas. Eddy was the middle of three brothers whom he grew up with, riding bikes and exploring the canyons around Phillips, which was an oil company camp town. Eddy served as President of his high school class and was well-liked as the smiling, friendly football quarterback. He had a reputation for being great in all sports but especially loved football and baseball. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1963 and has remained close with his Phillips Blackhawks friends all these years, taking Sharon to visit for homecomings and class reunions each summer.

After playing high school football, he continued that love into college where he played at Eastern New Mexico College and Abilene Christian College. He continued his education and graduated from West Texas State where he became a proud Buff, always cheering on his favorite team and attending their games whenever possible.

This beloved husband, dad, and grandfather was one of the hardest working and most genuine men you will ever meet. He poured that amazing work ethic and friendly nature into building his company, Dickey Oilfield Sales, which he established in 1983. His incredible work ethic and authentic nature in serving the oilfield community created many lifelong friendships and has set an example for his whole family.

Eddy was known for his incredible sense of humor and always having a good joke ready or a story to tell. He was kind, patient, and always put others first. Meeting 30 years ago, Eddy and Sharon connected over their strong faith and love for their families. They married on November 10, 2000 and built a beautiful life together. Eddy was affectionately known as Pawpaw and Pawpaw Ed to his grandchildren. He was immensely proud of each of them and enjoyed their visits and hearing all their stories.

A man who loved the great outdoors, he especially enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping. He was proud of the many things he grew in his garden and his family was always eager to try whatever he cooked up. He and Sharon enjoyed traveling in their camper and visiting the mountains. Some of their most treasured memories are from their visits to Red River, NM where they loved shopping for pottery and to Branson, MO where they enjoyed "riding the Ducks" and seeing some of their favorite groups in concert. Eddy also loved his motorcycle and riding all over the country.

Eddy was a great tennis player and, in later years, had the joy of watching his granddaughters take up the sport as well. He loved cheering the girls on at the tennis courts and at dance, music, and choir performances as well as watching his grandsons play baseball. Forever a football fan, he could often be found under the Friday Night Lights at Memorial Stadium cheering on the hometown teams.

Eddy was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Don Dickey. He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Sharon Dickey; his daughter, Shelly Proctor, his son, Bobby Dickey, stepdaughter, Deandra West and husband Eric, and stepson Erik Walker and wife Megan, all of Wichita Falls; grandchildren Sheridan Proctor, Halle Proctor, Malorie Dickey, Addie Robbins, Avery West, Emma West, Luke Walker, and Liam Walker. He is also survived by his brother Joe Dickey and wife, Cindy, of Borger, Texas.
