Ayers
Nov 25, 1932 — Oct 29, 2026
Wichita Falls
Edith Lou (Woodward) Ayers, 93, of Wichita Falls, entered her heavenly home on October 29, 2026. Born on November 25, 1932, Edith graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1951. On July 1 of that year, she married her high school sweetheart, Orville (O.W.) Ayers, at First Baptist Church, where they remained devoted members for many years.
In the late 1980s, Edith and O.W. became the first supporters of CFNT, a local Christian broadcasting station, and remained supporters until their retirement in 2021.
Edith worked as office manager for Robert Seabury Realtors for many years before joining O.W. at the Lantern House in 1978. Together, they celebrated 50 years in business before retiring together in 2021. For many years, Edith sang as a soloist in the First Baptist Church choir. She was also an original member and longtime president of the Glory Choir, serving in that role until her retirement in 2021.
Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, O.W. She leaves behind her three sons, Ronnie, Tommy, and Mike; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memory and the love she shared.
Edith will lie in state at Lunn’s Funeral Home until Wednesday, November 4th. A private celebration of life for family members will follow.
In loving memory of Edith, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to CFNT, P.O. Box 442, Wichita Falls, TX 76307, or to the Glory Choir through First Baptist Church, 1200 9th Street, Wichita Falls, TX 76301. The family welcomes condolences at www.lunnscolonial.com.
