Edward Dean Ferrell, Sr was born on November 29, 1940 to James Ferrell and Margaret Josephine Young Ferrell in Nashville, TN. He went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2024 at Hospice of Wichita Falls in Wichita Falls, TX.

Edward graduated from Father Ryan High School in Nashville, TN. He married Vivian Struve Ferrell in Dayton, OH and they were blessed with 3 children, Edward Jr, Phillip, and Dawn.

Edward served in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service in 1980. He then began a second career as a detention officer with the Wichita County Sheriff's Office, retiring after more than 18 years of service.

Edward was loved tremendously, not only by his family, but by his friends, colleagues, neighbors, pets – really everyone who knew him loved him. He was kind and would help anyone in every way he could. He was a jokester and loved to make people laugh, and if he could tease you in some way, it just made his day!

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Vivian, of the home; son Ed Ferrell and wife Marie of Aledo, TX; daughter Dawn Ferrell of Wichita Falls, TX; twin sister Edna Jean Hudson of Smyrna, TN; grandson Tyler Ferrell and wife Robin and their children Austyn and Raelynn of Yukon, OK; granddaughter Chelsie Placker and husband Dylan and children Braxton and Brooklyn of Port Orange, FL.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Cohen, his brother Joseph Ferrell, his son Phillip Ferrell, and his great-granddaughter Braylee Placker.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Lunns Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Alzheimer's Association, Texhoma Christian Care Center, or your favorite charitable organization.
