Edward William Moran Jr. passed away on January 1, 2024, New Year's Day.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10th at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. John McLarty and Chaplain Starkovich Forster officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Eddie was born in Wichita Falls, on March 28, 1939, to Jimmie Tom Bell and Edward William Moran. He attended Zundy Jr. High, Old High (where he played football), the University of Oklahoma (Geological Engineering degree) and Harvard Business School (MBA). While in college, he was in the Marine Corps Reserve. Upon graduation from HBS, Eddie and Lynn returned to Wichita Falls to join his dad with EW Moran Drilling Co., where he ran the company successfully for 30 years.

Eddie loved Wichita Falls and was interested in helping it stay vibrant. He served as chairman of several organizations throughout the years including, the General Hospital Board as it merged with Bethania Hospital; Community Health Care Center; and Board of Regents of Midwestern State University; as well as President of the Mavericks. Eddie was a volunteer football coach for the Ben Franklin Lions in the Boys & Girls Club football program for 9 years. He was a 2017 Legacy Honoree and received a 50 years service award from the Boys & Girls Club.

Eddie was known and loved for his dry wit and ability to relate amusing tales, always in a clever, yet self-deprecating way. He ran marathons, biked in Hotter 'n Hell and in Europe and trekked to the base camp of Annapurna in Nepal. He also was a World War II history buff and was fascinated by airplanes.

Eddie and Lynn had their first date before the ninth grade at Zundy. He picked her up in his mother's pink Buick-they were both 14 years old! They will have been married 65 years in March. Along with his wife Lynn; Eddie is also survived by a daughter, Janie Schubert and her husband, Jack of Houston; Edward William Moran III of Wichita Falls; and Mark Moran and wife, Kim of Wichita Falls. Also surviving are grandchildren, Molly Schubert McDonald and husband, William of Fort Worth; Jack Schubert Jr. of Fort Collins, CO; and Dana, Lela and Maggie Moran all of Wichita Falls; and two great-grandsons, Walker and Thomas McDonald.

Eddie was pre-deceased by his parents; his sister, Linda Moran Schmidt; and his brother, Dan Moran.

Eddie's family will remember him as a funny, generous man who loved sports, especially the Oklahoma Sooners. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who loved him.

The family would like to acknowledge the love and care of those who helped Eddie live as comfortable and as normal a life as possible these last few years.
