Edwin Scott Smith, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Waco, Texas, on Palm Sunday,April 2, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He was 68 years old. A graveside service will be held at the Smith family burial plot at Crestview Memorial Park on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dr. Isaac Butterworth officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Scott was born in Wichita Falls on December 10, 1955, to Edwin Lee Smith and his wife,
Betty Lou Smith. Scott had a close family life at home with his parents and big sister, Lisa, enjoying many family vacations and activities. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1973 and played varsity football when the Coyotes were district champions. He continued his education at Texas Christian University where he pledged and was a member of the Texas Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1978.

After he graduated, Scott worked with his father, Ed Smith, who was an independent geologist, developing oil and gas drilling prospects. Scott formed Citori Oil Company in 1983, continuing his prospecting, and worked on acquiring, drilling and operating wildcat oil and gas prospects. During that time, Scott was active in the Wichita Falls community, serving as a director of the North Texas Oil and Gas Association, the Wichita Club, Campfire Girls, the North Texas Geological Society and the Wichita Falls Mavericks.

Jesus Christ was first in Scott's life. Scott was active in his church, First Presbyterian Church. He loved his church and church family. He was an Elder and the Moderator of the Deacons at First Presbyterian Church.

Scott was a very accomplished person. He was licensed as a pilot at age 17. Flying was a
passion in Scott's life, and he accumulated many hours of flying time and was rated on instruments and multi-engines before his illness. He also learned to scuba dive at the age of 14. His first ocean dive was 90 miles off the coast of British Honduras at age 15. Scott was an experienced outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish.

Scott loved his children, Natalie and Scottie, and wanted to share all his experiences with them. His time with Natalie and Scottie were most important. They traveled together on numerous trips all over the world. He loved hunting with Scottie and traveling and going to Texas Tech football games with Natalie.

Scott battled prostate cancer from diagnosis in December, 2000, through surgery in May, 2001 and then from return of the cancer in November, 2001 until his death.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Lisa Lee Williamson (Jim), his daughter Natalie, his son Scottie (Cady), and his granddaughter Cassidy.
