On Wednesday evening, May 29, 2024, G. E. (Jerry) Cotterly was welcomed home by his Creator.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31st at Lunn's Chapel with Deacon Jim Bindel officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on September 28, 1933, as the fifth child of Ernest and Hazel Cotterly of Wichita Falls. After graduating from Wichita Falls High School, he entered the army and spent most of his two years in Hawaii. Jerry attended Midwestern University for two semesters where he learned to appreciate those who continued college. He chose bricklaying as a trade and worked for W. P. Howle for about twenty years until he and his friend Clifford Gilleland went into business on their own.  Although bricklaying is hard work, Jerry was proud of the jobs he and Clifford did.

When Jerry retired in 1995, people worried that this "work horse" would be miserable. Fishing, hunting, dancing, traveling, playing Texas Hold'em, golfing, reading the newspaper, worshipping every Sunday, driving Meals on Wheels for several decades, entertaining and watching TV kept him busy and happy. Jerry never met a stranger and frequently he welcomed a large crowd into his home in Iowa Park.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hazel Cotterly; his loving and fun wife Mary; his siblings and their spouses: John and Fay Cotterly, Joan and Ross Miller, Carol and Herb Morgan, and brother Morris, age 5.

He is survived by sister Rita/Tootie Cotterly; nephews Mark Cotterly, Matthew Cotterly and Brian Morgan; nieces Martha and Mike Petrek; Danita Cotterly; Linda and Tom Slopsema; Marilyn and Peter Stone; Barbara Graham; Janice Hartmangruber; Sandra and Carlos Ratliff; and Elizabeth McCormick; many great-nieces and nephews; and friends too numerous to list. Jerry will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
