Geraldine Yvonne ("Bon") Savage Sampson, 91, of Wichita Falls, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

Memorial services are tentatively scheduled for November 30, 2023, at 10:30 am, to be held at First Baptist Church of Midland, Texas.

Daughter of the late Lillian (Wilson) and Thomas Monroe Savage, Yvonne was born on January 9, 1932, in Wichita Falls. She was the youngest of 5 kids, graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1949, and then attended Midwestern State University.  She met her future husband William Harrell ("Bill") Sampson on a blind date, and they were married on February 17, 1951.  Together they had their one and only favorite daughter Sandra Lynn Sampson Woerndle on September 7, year unknown (claims she's 27).  She went on to be a loving "Bon" to two grandsons and, in her last years, two great-grandsons, all the while asking to ONLY be called Bon because she was "too young to be a grandma".

She was an avid bowler, tennis player, volunteer, skier, snowmobiler, mountain lover, a real force to be reckoned with and never shy to tell you her opinion.  While she loved animals more than people, her prized possessions were her two grandchildren and her "favorite child, Saint Rudi".

As a volunteer, she was a member of the Women's Forum in Wichita Falls where she was co-chairman of the antique show, the Midland Jaycee-ettes, PTA, WMU, and a volunteer librarian at both First Baptist Church of Midland and Wichita Falls.

Along with her parents, her husband, Bill Sampson, Yvonne was also preceded in death by her siblings, Wayne ("Joe") Savage, Owen Savage, Ethel Mae Savage Williams, and Ima Ruth Savage Melville

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Woerndle and husband, Rudi, of Midland; her grandson, Graham Woerndle and wife, Jenni, of Midland, grandson Chase Woerndle, wife, Judy Sanders, and great-grandchildren, Julian Woerndle and Henry Woerndle, all of Austin; two nieces, Betsy Savage Meggs of Dallas and Anny Melville Britton of Levelland; a nephew, Joe Savage of Georgetown; her god-daughter, Marian Yeager of Austin, and numerous great-nephews, great-nieces and great-great nephews.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to all the nurses and caregivers at Presbyterian Manor and her hospice caregivers, Ruth Morath and Ashley.
