Hal Yeager Jr. passed away on March 3, 2024, at the age of 100. He was born December 23, 1923, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Ruth and Hal Yeager, Sr. He was affectionately known by all as "Happy Hal".

Hal went on to the University of Texas in Austin, where he became a petroleum engineer, and a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and the Texas Cowboys. While at the University, Hal went off to serve in the Navy during World War II.

He began his career with Burk Royalty Company, and later began his own company in the oil & gas industry called Cactus Operating Co.

Hal was a member of the Mavericks, a men's non-profit focused on helping the Wichita Falls community, where he also served as president. He was also a member of Floral Heights United Methodist Church.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, and snow-ski.

Hal and his wife Betty were married almost 50 years and spent their summers in Red River, New Mexico. You could usually find Hal on the front porch of "Chula Vista" waving to everyone that passed by, and he often invited them to join him on the porch. Hal was full of life and never met a stranger. He was the embodiment of a true Texan.

Hal is preceded in death by his parents along with his brother, Ed Mansour Yeager, and wife, Betty Jo Yeager, along with two sons Joseph Mark Yeager and Hal Garvin Yeager.

He is survived by his daughter Amy Yeager Galvin, (and her husband Bill), four grandchildren, Stephanie Renee Walker, (partner Aaron Spalding), Molly Johnston (and husband Jake), Matt Galvin (and wife Catherine), Melissa Galvin and his great-grandchildren, William Edward Galvin, James Ransome Galvin, Oliver Rhoades Johnston, Joshua Brian McKee, (and wife Nani Lee McKee and their son Roger Lee McKee), Corbin Riley Key, Hanna Renee Walker, Tyson and Dale Walker.

A service will be held in his honor Monday, March 18th at Grace Church at 1:00 p.m., 5214 Stone Lake Dr., Wichita Falls, Texas, 75310. A short reception will follow the service, followed by a graveside service at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park ,1917 Archer City Hwy Wichita Falls, Texas, 76302.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Red River Community House, 116 E Main St, Red River, New Mexico, 87558, https://www.redrivercommunityhouse.org. The Red River Community House is an organization that was established by Hal Yeager's family in 1940.
