Ila Mae Benson, age 87, passed away on April 3, 2021 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Western Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Charles West and Pastor Rick Allen officiating. Burial will follow the service in Crestview Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home

Ila was born June 19, 1933 to Delmer and Stella (Brooks) Styles in Seymour, Texas. Ila was a graduate of Seymour High School. She loved all sports but her favorite sport was volleyball where she played on the school volleyball team all four years.  After graduation, Ila continued to play on numerous teams in various leagues throughout the area.  Her skills were so good that she was asked to play on the U.S. Olympic Volleyball Team but due to circumstances was not able to join the team.

Ila married the love of her life Kenneth Benson and their marriage lasted 66 years until his passing on October 26, 2019.

Ila worked for many years as an Administrative Officer for Southwest National Bank in Wichita Falls. She was a longtime member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and for the past many years had attended Western Hills Baptist Church.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Wesley, Gerald and A. C. Styles. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Thomas and husband Kevin of Wichita Falls, TX; a son Gary Benson and wife Sharon of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Brenton and Peyton Thomas, Kyle and Leslie Thomas, Jill Drury, Julie and David Bergeron, Emily and Steven Johns; as well as fifteen  great grandchildren.
