Jackie Franklin Howry, 71, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Lunn's Chapel with Reverend Ron Redding from Sunnyside Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Holliday Cemetery, Holliday, Texas, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Jackie was the son of the late Winnie (Cloud) and Earl Franklin Howry. Jackie was born on August 30, 1949, in Seymour, Texas. He and Patricia (Tricia) Latham were married on August 26, 1967, in Seymour, Texas.

Jackie went to work for Sears in 1968 until his retirement in 2010. He was a television technician. During this time, he also served his country in the Army from 1969 until 1971, where he was honorably discharged as a Sp.5. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict in communications for the war. He spent time at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, and Fort Ritchie, Maryland.

His greatest joy was his family and watching his grandkids grow up. He loved watching them play their school sports and anything they were involved in. He loved going to his daughter and son-in-law's ranch and helping out. He loved it when his wife would go and drive the roads to check on the cattle at the ranch with him. He attended Sunnyside Baptist Church, where he ran the sound system for morning services.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Beth Nickerson and Evelyn Harlan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Tricia Howry; his two daughters, Melanie Strange and husband Doug Strange of Holliday, TX; and Beckie Newton and husband Matt Newton of Clifton, Texas; four grandchildren, Marklie Strange, Duke Strange, Hayden Newton and Jackson Newton; one brother, Tommy Howry and wife Rhogenia Howry of Possum Kingdom Lake; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved him.

Pallbearers are Shane Wright, Jay Franklin, Corey Parker, Joe Chunn, Scott Hammel and Jack Curd. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Force and Lonnie Brumley.
