James Sid Hicks, 78, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17 at Lunn's. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18 at Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro, Texas, under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of the late Lena (Polk) and Jesse Hicks, Sid was born on August 27, 1945, in Jacksboro. He was the youngest of three and had two elder sisters.

Sid graduated from Texas Tech University with a BS degree.  During these college years, Sid met the love of his life, Monica.  They married in February 1972 and had one son, Seth.  Sid adored his family and loved the time spent with them.  Many precious memories of Sid coaching and watching Seth play soccer, traveling and visiting with family and friends, and having coffee with his buddies will be cherished.

Most of his career was spent in the oil and gas industry.  He was a safety director and heavily involved in environmental safety.  He traveled extensively during his career throughout Texas and much of the United States.

Sid's love of traveling took him to many destinations.  He loved to plan a trip! He traveled with family and friends across a great deal of the United States as well as much of Europe.  His favorite times were traveling to California to spend occasions with his grandchildren.  He was always ready to go!

Along with his parents, Sid was also preceded in death by his older sister, Jessie Mae Hicks, and nephew, Russell Mason.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Monica Hicks; son Seth and wife Susannah; six grandchildren Judah, Joseph, Asher, Shiloh, Hadassah and Honor Hicks; sister Claudia Mason and husband Larry and nephew Randall Mason.
