James E. King, a remarkable individual who passed away on June 25, 2025. James was born on March 20, 1946, in Mergargel, Texas, to Vaughter and Grace King.

James attended Magargel high school where he excelled in high school basketball. He met his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, at a Halloween dance and married her on August 6, 1967. He worked as a police officer in Highland Park in the 1970s, He then went to Stewart and Stevenson for twelve years where he retired.

Following his retirement, James enjoyed spending time at home and cherishing life's experiences. He found great pleasure in visiting the farm, hunting, and fishing. James was one of the founding members of Wichita East VFD and he enjoyed driving the fire trucks and cooking "Fireburgers" at Falls Fest every year. In his later years, he created a special haven for his beloved dog, Joey.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Wife Carolyn, sister Mary, and his brother.

James is survived by his son, James Allen King, and his wife, Tish; son, Brian King, and his wife, Serina Bonus Son Tracey Frerich. granddaughter, Brittany Smith, and her husband, Scott; granddaughter, Maci Heuring, and her husband, Tray; granddaughter, Kaci Magee, and her husband, Brandon; granddaughter, Kara Faldyn, and her husband, Cody; granddaughter, Cali Zotz, and her husband, James; granddaughter, Kaylee Donnell, and her husband, Evan; granddaughter, Lexi King and her partner Kain Custis , and Natalie King; and his great-grandchildren, Cambri Heuring, Mason Heuring, Hutson Heuring, Hunter Heuring, Laynie Magee, Harlow Smith, Lane Magee, David Donnell, Cooper Zotz, Charlotte Donnell, Berkley Zotz, Michael Donnell, Payton Smith, Saylor Custis and Emory Faldyn.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of Senior Care Health and Rehabilitation for their exceptional care and unwavering affection during the past six months. They were like a second family to him. We also want to express our gratitude to Aviator Home Health and Wichita Home Health.

The family will hold a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at Lunn's Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, at Lunn's Chapel, with Chaplain Kelly Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
