Janette Watson, 76, of Prosper, TX, peacefully passed away on July 6, 2021 at her residence.
She was born on November 19, 1944, in Mannsville, OK to Rev. Fred and Lorene Burgess James. She moved to Wichita Falls, TX with her family when her father established the church plant for Bethel Assembly of God. Janette loved learning, pursuing a bachelor's degree and a master/s degree in education from Midwestern State University. She began her 39-year career with the Wichita Falls ISD in 1968 and served in several roles-classroom teacher, special education teacher and educational diagnostician, before finding her passion as a guidance counselor at Rider High School.
Janette had an intense interest in music. She began her musical career early by playing the piano in her father's church while her twin sister sang. She shared her gift of piano playing with residents of Presbyterian Manor in Wichita Falls, providing music on Sunday afternoons. One of her greatest joys was performing in the Community Messiah each year at First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Donald and John James, and a sister, Fredda Marsh. Survivors include her husband, Daryl Hollis of Prosper; son Bobby (Julie) Davidson of Denton, TX; grandsons Benjamin (Madison) Davidson of Gainesville, TX, Oliver (Grace) Davidson of Sanger, TX, and Samuel Davidson of Denton, TX; great-grandson Cooper Davidson of Gainesville, TX; brother Gary (Bonnie) James of Frisco, TX; sister Janelle Gardner of Oklahoma City, OK; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday July 8, 2021 at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 8, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Pastor Michael Hanson will be in charge of the service. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Faith Refuge, P O Box 965, Wichita Falls, TX 76307 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
