Jerod Scott Owens, 39, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on August 20, 2024.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on August 29th at Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Lee Guffey officiating. A visitation will be held following the service.

A son of Steve and Susie Owens, Jerod was born on December 20, 1984, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He was a graduate of S.H. Rider High School and Midwestern State University of Texas. He appreciated the beauty found in nature and enjoyed working outside as a talented landscaper. He had a vast knowledge of almost everything, but especially world history, geography, biology, and astronomy. His curiosity about the world led him to pursue knowledge and truly be a lifelong learner. He appreciated deep conversation with friends and family. Jerod had a deep voice that belied his size, and he had a superb sense of humor. He loved to spend time laughing with others. He wanted to help others and found satisfaction in providing assistance to his many extended family members.

Jerod was a fiercely devoted and loving uncle to his niece and nephew. He was never too busy or tired to spend time with them. He showed them the beauty of constellations in a clear nighttime sky, the joy of a simple walk in nature, and the importance of loving one's country and fighting for freedom.

Most importantly, Jerod was a loving son. He never left their sides during illness and was a helping hand around the house and yard. He wanted nothing more than to protect and care for his parents for whom he held an indescribable amount of admiration and love.

Jerod was preceded in death by grandparents, Ralph and Ernestine Buller and Elmer and Evelyn Owens, cousin Trey Buller, and several beloved aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his parents Steve and Susie Owens of Wichita Falls, Texas, sister Sarah Grote and brother-in-law Koy Grote of Mason, Texas, niece Blythe Grote and nephew Holt Grote, both of Mason, Texas.
