Jerry Don Gossett entered the Church Triumphant on September 11, 2025, at the age of 76, surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 10th and Travis, at 2:30pm, Tuesday, September 16 with Dr. John McLarty officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on October 19, 1948, in Davidson, Oklahoma, to Loraine A. Gossett (Coleman) and Hubert H. Gossett. His family later moved to Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a graduate of Rider High School and a letterman in football and baseball, playing for legendary coaches Joe Bob Tyler and Leo Brittain.

A hard-nose athlete, Jerry earned a four-year football scholarship to Cameron University and played baseball for the Aggies. After college Jerry began a career in coaching and teaching in the Houston area before returning home to Wichita Falls to coach at Barwise and WFHS, eventually becoming the head baseball coach at Wichita Falls High School. He left a mark on a generation of students who remember him not only as a coach, but also a mentor and role model. Jerry played softball on teams in Lawton, Houston and Wichita Falls, winning state and national titles. For the last 40 years Jerry has been a successful independent insurance agent.

Jerry was the kind of man whose actions spoke louder than words. He didn't need to talk about loyalty, faith, or hard work. He lived those values every single day. He helped guide family members and friends through end of life care with grace and humility, including his mother and father-in-law Ava and Max Kreutz, and family friends Jenny and Les Pierce.

Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Gossett.

He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Kristen Gossett, who stood by his side through every season of life. Together, they raised three sons: Jeff Gossett and his wife Kam, Cullen Gossett and wife Emily, and Brad Gossett and his wife Julie.

Jerry was a proud grandfather to four beautiful girls-Ava, Anna, Olivia, and Grace. Nothing brought him more joy than watching them grow, play sports, recitals and just being "Grandpa". He was known as "silly Jerry" to many other children and young people that adored him. He is also survived by his sister, Katie Splawn, brothers, Sonny and David (Patsy) Gossett, sister-in-law, Michelle Gossett, and his wonderful nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers as well as family, friends and pastors who have loved and cared for us over the past few weeks. Today we grieve, but we also give thanks-for a life well lived, for a father deeply loved, and for the legacy of goodness he leaves behind in each of us.
