Jimmy D. Bankhead, 75, of Wichita Falls, passed away at home on Friday, April 7, 2023.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 11 at Lunn's Funeral. Services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12 at Lunn's Chapel. Interment will follow at Crestview under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

A son of the late Helen Krottinger and Dean Preston Bankhead, Jimmy was born on September 11, 1947, in Wichita Falls.

While growing up, Jimmy worshiped at First Baptist Church. He had a reputation as a hard worker. He began work as a dishwasher at Margie's Bakery at age 11. He graduated from Rider High School in 1965 and obtained a business degree from Midwestern University in 1971. After graduation, he began his career in the accounting department at Republic National Bank in Dallas. After becoming a CPA, he joined the firm Pete
Marwick, Mitchell and Co. in Dallas. Following his dream to live in California he transferred to the firm's Los Angeles office. He returned to Wichita Falls about 29 years ago to begin working in his own Oil & Gas business where he worked until his death. Wherever Jimmy went he made lifelong friends.

Jimmy was always intrigued with cars of all makes and models. Over the last years, he amassed a car collection that he delighted in driving and showing to friends. Jimmy could energize a gathering with his gift of humor and his "unique" style of dancing.

He is survived by his sister Patsy Fox of Plano, niece Denise Phillips (Joey), nephew Bryan Hardin (Doris), great beloved nephew Bryce Phillips, very special friend Jenny Pruner; special cousin, Kerry Krottinger; and his three dogs Curley, Moe and Mary named after the Three Stooges.
