Joan Banks Foster, age 89, died June 24, 2023 in Wichita Falls, Texas, very peacefully in her sleep.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m. in Lunn's Colonial Chapel in Wichita Falls, Texas, with her nephew Eddie Worthy, officiating. Arrangements and Services have been entrusted to Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. A family burial will be the morning of the service. The family will be available to visit in the foyer of Lunn's after the service.

Joan was born June 28, 1933, daughter of the late Harry Lee Banks Sr. and the late Bessie Birdie Brewer Banks. Following graduation from Wichita Falls High School, she married Jimmie Foster, her high school sweetheart, June 16, 1951 for 64 years until his death in 2015. Working alongside each other as J Foster Landscape, they will be remembered for all the beauty, as Master Gardeners, they brought to Wichita Falls. Their life on the farm while raising Angus cattle held special memories along with the years Jimmie worked as a paving contractor locally and across the state.

She was a member of First Baptist Church where she served faithfully even when her health kept her homebound in her later years. She wore many different leadership hats while raising her children including in their schools, Cub Scouts and 4-H. Hospitality was truly her gift as she loved to cook and have her table full of family and friends. Rolling Meadows became their home in May of 2014 where they enlarged their community to include many old friends and new ones. As she transitioned to the Gables in November of 2022 the family thanks the staff for the special care they gave, enabling her to continue to connect with lifelong friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmie Foster; her sisters Letha Rodgers, Alice Lewis, Mary Jane Mabry, Reba Gordon; and her brothers Carl Banks and Harry Lee Banks Jr.

She is survived by her children, James Foster (Caren) of Aledo, Texas, Ginger Olson (Steve) of Hereford, Texas, Chris Foster (Julie) of Okarche, Oklahoma, Kim Blackney (Steve) of Wichita Falls, Texas; and the special joy in her life, ten grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
