Anita Joyce Vordenbaum passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She died at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Joyce fought bravely and optimistically until the very end.

A celebration of life service is to be held on Friday, February 9th at 2:00pm at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home with Chaplain Mike Bumgarner officiating.

Joyce was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on October 5, 1954, to Helen and Aubrey Vordenbaum. Joyce was a product of WFISD, attending Cunningham Elementary and Barwise Junior High. She was a proud graduate of Rider High School, Class of 1973, and was glad she was able to attend their recent 50th reunion and reconnect with old friends.  Joyce moved to Dallas in 1975 and lived there the majority of her life. One of Joyce's true passions was the country music industry.  It is through her involvement with radio stations, KPLX for one, and media outlets that she encountered some of her biggest joys. The friendships she made, the artists she got to know and love, and the experiences, tours, and travels enriched her life tremendously. Joyce was the Fan Club President for LeAnn Rimes and was heavily invested in Jolie Holliday Burgess's country music career. Some of her fondest memories were with friends at Billy Bob's and concerts. She ended her career at Gen Media, and was treated as a valued employee throughout her illness.

The other great love of her life was the Dallas Cowboys.  Anyone who knew Joyce did not call during a Cowboy game, unless to disparage the refs or cheer on her team. Thanksgiving dinner shifted around the Cowboys game and Joyce's enthusiasm could be heard a mile away.  Any Cowboy loss was not for lack of Joyce trying. Joyce was very blessed to have many special friends in her life that she considered family.  They were a true bright spot throughout her life.  After her diagnosis last spring, Joyce felt very loved by all her caregivers.  A special thanks to Regina Seals Woolbright, Mitzi and Rob Brotherton, Teresa Whitney-Thornton, Tammy Lee Oehlke, Melissa Unger and Angie Miller for helping with treatment over the past eight months.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Aubrey Vordenbaum.  She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Max and Shana Vordenbaum of Wichita Falls; her nieces and nephews, Lindsey and Cuatro Lunn of Wichita Falls; Lauren Northington of Wichita Falls; and August Vordenbaum of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are her great nieces and nephews, Hatley Northington and Cinco, Brooks, and Lucy Lunn all of Wichita Falls. Joyce is also survived by extended family, Mitzi Brotherton of Wichita Falls, Rob Brotherton of Malibu, California, Ross Brotherton of Omaha, Nebraska, and Bob Brotherton of Hurst, Texas.
