Longtime Iowa Park resident, June Fortner Crawford passed away on Jan. 5, 2023 in Wichita Falls, Texas.  She was 91 years young. Her friends and family have great comfort knowing she is resting in peace with her husband of 71 years, Johnny T. Crawford who died in March of 2020.  June was born on May 21, 1931 in Iowa Park and was the third of four children born to Roy and Mary Fortner. She and Johnny were married on Feb. 1, 1949 in San Jose, California where he was serving in the U.S. Navy.

June graduated from Iowa Park High School in 1948 where she was voted Most Beautiful and was a majorette.  She enjoyed life as a homemaker most of her life and also worked at SW Bell Telephone, the Iowa Park Tag Agency and as a clerk at Nacol's Jewelry.  She loved being a devoted wife and raising her three children. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her three children, Gary and Kathy Crawford, Kristie and Pat Gaines and Jon and Kay Crawford.  She also loved being Gigi to her 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Fortner, and three sisters: Billie McCullough, Helen Caldwell and Marilea Cockerell.

A few of her favorite things were having fun in the Mexican Sun with her husband, family and friends, watching the horse races at Ruidoso, New Mexico and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, taking care of her husband and reading novels.  One of her favorite trips was to New York City with her daughter, granddaughters and friends. Her fun spirit and enthusiasm for life will be missed by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM,  Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 in Lunn's Colonial Chapel , 2812 Midwestern Pkwy, in Wichita Falls, TX with burial to follow in the Iowa Park Highland Cemetery.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of June Crawford.
